The McConnell Foundation has been awarded multiple grants to mitigate wildfire impacts around Shasta County communities. The goal of the Project is to reduce risk of wildfire along certain critical corridors within high-priority wildland urban interface (WUI) areas by reducing hazardous fuels.
Shasta Fire Safe Council is pleased to partner with the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) and the Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) to develop a state home hardening initiative to retrofit, harden, and create defensible space for homes at high risk to wildfires.
The program is currently under development and is active only in pre-identified demonstration
CAL FIRE’s Wildfire Prevention Grants Program provides funding for fire prevention projects and activities in and near fire threatened communities. Funded activities include hazardous fuels reduction, wildfire prevention planning, and wildfire prevention education with an emphasis on improving public health and safety while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
This Program provides federal grants to low- and moderate-income homeowners
whose residence is located in an eligible county affected by 2020 disasters.
2020 Eligible Disaster includes:
FEMA DR-4569 (September 4 through November 17, 2020) Fires:Fresno, Los Angeles, Napa, Shasta, Siskiyou, and Sonoma counties.
