About Us

Whispering Woods Estates is a nationally recognized Firewise community located in Shingletown, California, along highway 44 in the mountains just below Mount Lassen. Shingletown has a history of logging large timber, including pine, fir, and cedar. 

Shingletown is also known as "The Gateway to Lassen."

Originally called Shingle Camp, the town was named for the workers who cut roofing slats from timber to supply miners during the Gold Rush.
